The Cultural Council’s Art in Public Places program has been exhibiting works of art around the county since 2015. The four venues, the IRC Courthouse, IRC Administration Complex, the Intergenerational Recreation Center and the Vero Beach Regional Airport, offer local artists the opportunity to exhibit their art and the public to enjoy the creativity and visual interest in otherwise plain places. Approximately one month before an installation changeover, artists are called to submit their works, sometimes relating to a theme. Juried selections are on display for a three- to four-month rotating time period.
The newest gallery space for the Art in Public Places program, the Vero Beach Regional Airport promotes Cultural Council Member Artists in the Passenger Lounge just past the TSA Checkpoint. Up to 40 two-dimensional works of art may be displayed.
With almost 15,000 flyers viewing the artwork annually, these installations are a great first and last impression of the wealth of creativity in our county.
