Arpeggione Chamber Orchestra
The Arpeggione Chamber Orchestra of Hohenems is an artistic gem, known for its virtuosity and first rate soloists and inspired by a passion to perform music of the highest artistic quality. Arpeggione plays both works of the classical repertoire as well as contemporary music with virtuosity and dedication, resulting in high acclaim from audience and critics as well. Musicians of the ensemble are from countries throughout Europe, bringing a diversity of traditions and an exciting freshness and complexity to its performances. Musicians are active in quartets and chamber music, and serve as faculty of local conservatories.
Under the artistic direction of Professor Irakli Gogibedaschwili, during its 20 year history, the orchestra has performed more than 700 concerts in many parts of the world, including Europe, the USA, Central and South America, Brazil, Russia and Israel. Under the direction of outstanding guest conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Arpeggione has played in the major European music festivals and concert halls including Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Tonhalle Zurich, Santa Cecilia in Rome, Sala Verdi in Milan, Grand Philharmonic Hall of St. Petersburg and the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory.
The orchestra’s performance home in Hohenems is the Renaissance palace of the family Waldburg-Zeil, an ideal concert space, providing excellent acoustics. Repertoire performed by Arpeggione has more than 120 different programs and numerous world premieres - many by renowned composers specifically for Arpeggione.
Numerous recordings have been made with ORF, SRF, DRS and the Bayerische Rundfunk, Radio Netherlands, Radio Slovenia and with NBC. Arpeggione appears in residence with the Symphony of the Americas Summerfest by popular request, a residency with the festival in 2007.
Thank you to all who attended our Summerfest Concert and for your kind words!
I just left an enthusiastic phone comment of support about the wonderful Summerfest concert last night. There were a lot of music lovers there who left happy and satisfied. One of the best! You did a great job. I intended to thank you personally before we left, but it didn't work out that way. So...email and phone message. Anyway, this one should have left you and the Cultural Council staff, board and volunteers extremely pleased. Even the rain stayed away, so we all left dry, contented.and smiling. Onward!
I have had three different students contact me this morning and tell me how much they enjoyed the concert last night. Thank you for providing the opportunity for them!
