This year, Summerfest 2016 is the 25th Anniversary of this summer music festival. The concerts will highlight the “Best of the Best”. The Summerfest Chamber Orchestra will feature musicians and soloists who have participated in this Festival over the past 25 years, including from orchestras such as the Arpeggione Chamber Orchestra of Austria, the Mission Chamber Orchestra of Rome, Hungarian Virtuosi, Italy’s I Musici and more, representing more than 10 different countries performing several styles of classical and popular music for strings, all joined in cultural exchange by principal musicians of Symphony of the Americas.
Orchestral concert will feature the music of Vivaldi, Mozart, Bloch, Fuchs, Piazzolla tangos, a commissioned piece by Italian composer Lorenzo Turchi-Floris, a special arrangement of Latin favorites by Latin Grammy Award winning composer Eduardo Magallanes of Mexico and more. Georgian violinist Sandro Tigishvili, will be featured soloist in an American premier arrangement for stings of the Concertino by Georgian composer Otar Taktakishvili, commissioned by the Symphony of the Americas for the Summerfest 25th anniversary.
Thank you to all who attended our 2015 Summerfest Concert and for your kind words!
I just left an enthusiastic phone comment of support about the wonderful Summerfest concert last night. There were a lot of music lovers there who left happy and satisfied. One of the best! You did a great job. I intended to thank you personally before we left, but it didn't work out that way. So...email and phone message. Anyway, this one should have left you and the Cultural Council staff, board and volunteers extremely pleased. Even the rain stayed away, so we all left dry, contented.and smiling. Onward!
I have had three different students contact me this morning and tell me how much they enjoyed the concert last night. Thank you for providing the opportunity for them!
