Local artist, Sharon Sexton was hired to place decorative tiles over the concrete columns that were support columns for the former bridge. The hand-painted tiles form images of wetlands, an upland hammock, the ocean and the Indian River. In addition, the city of Vero Beach also placed a fishing pier, fountain and waterfront park at the Pointe, which begins at Indian River Boulevard.
