The Alzheimer/Parkinson Association of Indian River county, Inc. seeks to promote the highest quality of life for families and loved-ones afflicted with Alzheimer's and/or Parkinson's disease. We meet on the first Monday of every month except for holidays when we meet on the second Monday. We usually bring a brown bag lunch at 11:00 and at noon have informative speakers. (06/10)

The purpose of the Vero Beach branch of the American Association of University Women is to promote equity, education, intellectual growth, and development opportunities for women and girls. Community service projects include scholarships, book review breakfasts, graduation receptions for GED recipients, book author luncheons, school mentoring, and library work. Members may be involved in a variety of interest groups such as bridge, reading discussion gourmet, lunch bunch, creative writing, international relations, and stock study. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County is a private, non-profit agency chartered by Boys & Girls Clubs of America with policy set by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of local residents; is managed by a full-time President/CEO, assisted by full-time career professionals, part-time assistants and program volunteers; operates three professionally staffed, fully-equipped facilities providing safe places to learn and grow, ongoing relationships with caring adults, life-enhancing programs and character development experiences for youth ages 6-18. The Boys & Girls Clubs also operates a teen community service outreach program – Youth Volunteer Corps – that enriches the lives of youth through volunteer opportunities while addressing community needs; and, makes a positive impact on young lives by building self-esteem and encouraging the development of values and skills during critical periods of childhood growth. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County offers its members programs in six core areas: character and leadership development; education and career development; health and life skills; sports fitness and recreation; community service; and, the arts. Programs are carefully designed to support achievement of development outcomes for young people that include positive self-identity; educational, employment, social, emotional and cultural competencies; community and civic involvement; health and well-being; and a moral compass. Programs in the arts are designed to enable youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts, crafts, performing arts and creative writing.

Art at the Center for Spiritual Care - The Center for Spiritual Care offers programs for individuals and small groups to foster spiritual deepening and healing. Annually, we offer several exhibitions and workshops relating art to spirituality, giving visitors and clients an appreciation of the spiritual aspects of the creative process. We also offer workshops using pottery, collage, icon painting, knitting and water color to highlight aspects of participants' spiritual journeys, and to develop our capacities for personal and communal creativity.

772-778-5249 (03/11) The Emerson Center at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, located at the corner of 16th Street and 27th Avenue, one light south of Route 60 in the heart of Vero Beach, is a new venue for entertainment, education and public interest programs for the Treasure Coast community. It sponsors the “Celebrated Speaker Series” with nationally known people from media, business, politics and sports. Also on site is Bridges Early Learning Center for children from 1-5. Facilities are available for rent to business and community groups ranging from 9 to 900, include meeting rooms, a large auditorium, dining facilities for 120 and on-site catering. Parking for over 300 cars.

We also operate the Cultural Camp which provides exposure and education to both fine and performing arts.

No animal is ever turned away. Among the many programs offered are Animal Rescue, Adoption, Lost & Found, Pet Sterilization Services, Pet Behavior Counseling, In-school educational programs, volunteer training & opportunities, Foster Care, Pets for Seniors program, Grief Counseling, Pet visits to nursing homes and homes of shut-ins as well as disaster relief after natural catastrophes. The Humane Society hosts several educational events and fundraisers throughout the year to assist in the costs of operating their facility.

Kashi is an international, interfaith spiritual community founded in 1976 by Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati. Ma Jaya, a spiritual leader, yoga master, artist, author, AIDS activist and humanitarian, serves as a Trustee of the Parliament of the World’s Religions. Kashi embraces all people without distinction as to religion, race, gender, age, or sexual orientation. Kashi is dedicated to fostering service and world peace; its mission supports human rights, spiritual freedom, and equality. As a hub of cultural diversity, the Kashi Center for Advanced Spiritual Studies offers weekly classes in yoga, meditation, and devotional singing, with a wide variety of workshops, retreats and programs, giving participants the opportunity to enrich both their cultural and spiritual lives.
