We are a group of people sharing family tales, meeting researchers that share tips of success, proving and disproving family stories while uncovering additional tales to add to the mystery. We are a group of serious researchers who became close friends and created our own research group. This group started as a fresh concept in teaching within the group. We work together to achieve our goals, share ideas and laugh together. We embody excitement and education as we bring the history of yesterday into the lives of today!

The Indian River County Historical Society is home to exhibits that showcase the history of Indian River County. Inside the original 1903 Vero Beach Train Station, the exhibits range from prehistoric artifacts to World War II-era items. A portion of the museum is also dedicated to train memorabilia. There is also a permanent working model train exhibit that highlights many of the towns and buildings of Indian River County.

Laura (Riding) Jackson Home Preservation Foundation
The Laura (Riding) Jackson Foundation mission is to preserve and interpret the home of the late poet, Laura (Riding) Jackson, and to promote literary programs that nurture a passion for the written word.

Laura (Riding) Jackson, widely noted avant-garde poet of the 1920s and 1930s, settled in Indian River County in the latter part of her life in a “cracker” style house built around 1910.  Her home was bequeathed to the Foundation for preservation and restoration, and as a focal point for the study of literature, philosophy and history.  The home is an example of a disappearing architectural style and a symbol of an older, more environmentally sensitive way of life.

In addition to preservation of the Laura (Riding) Jackson home, the Foundation participates as a partner or sponsor for various literary, historical, and educational programs and events.
