The Firefighters’ Indian River County Fair is celebrating over 33 years of making smiles so start planning your visit now! Join your friends, family and neighbors for this incredible 10 day journey of in-your-face fun. The Fair has a long history of uncovering smiles, laughter and community spirit. YOU are just as much a part of the excitement as the food, midway, animals, exhibits and entertainment. Youngsters squeal with glee as they enjoy tummy tickling rides and delight in new discoveries at the 4-H livestock barn. Teen thrill-seekers head for the spectacular rides and challenge others to beat their score at the carnival games. Parents laugh out loud as they reminisce with friends and indulge in the sights, sounds and tastes of the Fair. Competitors beam with pride at their ribbon winning entries. And, all the while, Grandma and Grandpa relax and enjoy the exhibits, strolling entertainment and the demolition derby.

Indian River County IMPACT 100 is a philanthropic initiative that allows women to pool their resources to create one significant gift that will make a transformational impact on our community. The women who each give $1,000 have the opportunity to participate and ultimately vote for a non-profit organization whose grant application would transform our community in a meaningful way. In 2011-2012 we have successfully recruited 408 members from a variety of communities, backgrounds and beliefs, thereby allowing Impact 100 to award four grants of $100,000 each at the annual meeting April 19, 2012. These non-profit organizations have had the opportunity in turn, to introduce, educate, and inspire the women of Impact 100 through the agencies' individual missions.

The Learning Alliance,  in cooperation with its community partners, is dedicated to delivering the latest advances in science-based education techniques to area teachers. Neuro-scientists are learning about the architecture of the brain and how the brain learns to read, and we at The Learning Alliance have identified the teaching methods that best harness this new understanding.

In our effort to radically improve our children’s literacy rates, we are all stakeholders. Partnerships between schools, civic youth organizations, non-profits, universities, philanthropists and parents are all critical to our success. The good news is that we all have every reason to believe that positive changes are not just possible, but that they are on the near horizon.

Republican Women of Indian River County
The Republican Women of Indian River (RWIR) is an organization comprised of registered Republican women voters.  RWIR was founded on March 28th, 1950 and is the 5th oldest Republican woman’s club in Florida.  Our fundraising allows us to support the local community--we host a yearly party for St. Francis Manor residents and grant scholarships for graduating high school seniors.  In addition, we are a huge supporter of the military.  We send packages monthly to soldiers stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan and, for several years, we have sent Christmas gifts to military children at Ft. Campbell, KY.  We meet on the second Monday of each month.

Youth Guidance

The primary purpose of Youth Guidance is to match each of its nearly 700 at-risk K-12 grade children with a volunteer mentor 21 years or older and keep youth engaged in positive educational, cultural and recreational year-round activities.  Mentors spend just a few hours a week with their mentee doing friendship-based activities that they both enjoy. The agency is actively seeking volunteers to serve as mentors, tutors, or periodic volunteers at ongoing activities for the unmatched children in the program, or to provide regular help in the office.  For more information about the many programs and services provided by Youth Guidance please visit www.ircyouth.com or call 772-770-5040.
