Auditions set for February 18 for new Summer Dance Festival at Riverside


Auditions will take place Saturday, February 18 for the all new summer dance intensive program at Riverside Theatre. This program seeks to pair the influential dance professionals of today with the aspiring dancers of tomorrow. For its inaugural season Riverside Children's Theatre has invited the Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company for a two week residency. Accepted students will study and work with the company as they workshop a new work for its Los Angeles premiere in the fall of 2012. Students will have the opportunity to take daily technique classes in Ballet and Contemporary Dance from LACDC and Riverside's own dance conservatory faculty. They will participate in master classes, open rehearsals and work toward the creation of their own work to be performed alongside LACDC in mixed repertory concerts to culminate the program.

Audition registration is from 3 to 4 pm with auditions from 4 to 6 pm. Those auditioning must stay for the entire period. Auditions are open to intermediate and advanced dancers ages 10 and up.

Auditions set for 'Bell, Book & Candle'
The Vero Beach Theatre Guild announces auditions for the "bewitching" comedy ''Bell, Book & Candle," its final show of the season. All interested in live theatre are welcome to audition at 7 p.m. Feb. 19, 20 or 27 at VBTG, 2020 San Juan Ave.
Director Pat Kroger is seeking two women, ages 25-75, and three men, ages 25-60. Production dates are May 10-20.
Assisting Kroger will be Audition Chair Crystal Kepler. Sponsors of the production are the Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic and List & Reamy, CPAs.

The Inquiry Form will be open until March 1. Creative Capital provides integrated financial and advisory support to artists pursuing innovative and adventurous projects. Acting as a catalyst for the development of exceptional and imaginative ideas, we support artists whose work is provocative, timely and relevant; who are deeply engaged with their art forms and demonstrate a rigorous commitment to their craft, yet are also boldly original and push the boundaries of their genre; who create work that carries the potential to reshape the cultural landscape. Selected grantees receive up to $50,000 in direct support and a suite of services valued at more than $40,000.

To be eligible to apply, an artist must be:
* A U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident
* At least 25 years old
* A working artist with at least five years of professional experience
* Not a full-time student

Orchestra Seeks Singers for Verdi Requiem

Space Coast Symphony fielding chorus for performances on March 23/24

(Cocoa Village, FL) February 6, 2012 – The Space Coast Symphony is seeking experienced choral singers for Brevard and Indian River County performances of the Verdi Requiem.  Rehearsals begin Saturday, February 18th at 10 AM at Riverside Presbyterian Church, 3400 N. Atlantic Avenue, Cocoa Beach, 32931. Space Coast Symphony Artistic Director, Aaron Collins, knows there is a wealth of vocal talent to draw from locally.

“There are some wonderful singers and choral groups in Brevard and Indian River Counties,” said Collins.  “Not only will we have great solo performers for our March 23 & 24 concerts, but I’m confident of fielding a strong chorus as well.  The Verdi is magnificent.”

YouthArts Fest 2012

Calling all exhibitors, food vendors, and volunteers!

SARASOTA, FL – The second annual YouthArts Fest, sponsored by the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County, will be held on April 21 at Five Points Park in downtown Sarasota.  This event is free and open to the public.

Over 500 students will showcase their talents in various performances throughout the day including: drum line, chorus, musical theater, ballet, classical guitar, opera, poetry, string ensemble, and jazz ensemble.  18 groups from local schools and arts organizations will be featured.  Selby Library will display an extensive student art exhibit and a room exclusively for screening student-made films.  Local arts and cultural organizations will be exhibiting on the steps of the library to offer information on the summer and after-school programs, workshops and scholarship opportunities they offer to students.  YouthArts Fest will feature hands-on arts and crafts areas and plenty of kid-friendly food and drinks.

Exhibitors:  This will be a family affair and will be a great chance to promote your activities for children — arts and sports programs, summer camps, sports activities, theatre performances, classes, programs, equipment, accessories — everything families are looking for.

Food Vendors:  This will be a family affair with estimated attendance of 5,000 throughout the day.

Volunteers:  This is a great opportunity for you to help your community and our youth.

Artists and designers are invited to re-purpose, reuse and recycle cast-off materials of all kinds to create amazingly fantastic wearable pieces of art that are much more than a “pretty dress.” The challenge is to select materials that spark your imagination and inspire your creativity. Haute couture or urban hip, avant-garde or whimsy, we are looking for well-crafted, innovative wearable pieces of art that push the boundaries of fashion.

The Kennedy Center has launched "What's Going On...NOW," a national arts and digital media campaign to inspire and engage youth while marking the 40th anniversary of Marvin Gaye's iconic album and his 1972 Kennedy Center performance. The project will culminate with two concerts in May at the Kennedy Center featuring John Legend, Sharon Jones, the Dap-Kings, and the National Symphony Orchestra.

 

Two young people will be selected for a trip to Washington, D.C. to attend one of these concerts on May 3.

To be considered for the trip to Washington, entries must be submitted no later than March 23.

Aesthetica Art Prize: Call for Entries

The Aesthetica Art Prize is a celebration of excellence in art from across the world and is hosted by Aesthetica Magazine, an internationally recognised art and culture publication. Four shortlisted artists and four student artists will be selected for exhibition in spring 2013. Artists working in all forms are welcome to submit work and the categories for entry are as below:

-          Photographic & Digital Art

-          Three Dimensional Design & Sculpture

-          Painting & Drawing

-          Installation & Performance

 

One overall winner will receive £1000 prize money (apx. $1,570) and editorial coverage in Aesthetica, as well as a place in our exhibition.


The winners and finalists, as well as a longlist of artists will be published in the accompanying publication to the Aesthetica Art Prize. All artists featured will receive a complimentary copy of this publication.

Entry costs £15 (apx. $23) and permits the submission of two pieces into any one category.

The deadline for entry is 31 August 2012.
